The Four Quiet Grounds

A Temple Collection of Botanical Space Mysts

This listing is for The Four Quiet Grounds, a Winter Earth Element temple collection of botanical space mysts from The heART of Ritual.

This four-piece set represents nearly a decade of continuous studio practice, rooted in traditional perfumery, botanical extraction, and the long lineage of consecrated waters used to tend, prepare, and hold space.

These space mysts are traditional botanical waters, formulated through resin extraction and hydrosol distillation. They are not essential oil sprays.

Across cultures, botanical waters have been used not to perfume the body, but to shape atmosphere – released into the air to consecrate thresholds, prepare rooms for ceremony, and restore spaces after gathering. From temple waters in South and Central Asian traditions, to European herbal and ecclesiastical preparations, this lineage is defined by labour-intensive methods, layered botanical composition, and skilled handling of alcohol and water.

Like earlier temple collections, these mysts are composed to support lived practice – but here the emphasis moves outward, toward the tending of space itself.

On Craft and Composition

These formulations have been developing since 2015, emerging from long-term work with:

  • traditional resin extractions made with 96% ethanol, working slowly with resins, barks, roots, and plant exudates

  • hand-distilled botanical hydrosols

  • pure spring water drawn from a living source and used in the distillation of the hydrosols throughout the collection

The use of high-proof alcohol allows for the proper extraction of materials that cannot be expressed through steam alone, while hydrosol distillation preserves the softer, aqueous intelligence of the plants. These elements are then carefully married into constructed botanical waters intended specifically for atmospheric use. This is not decorative fragrance. It is slow, exacting, practitioner-grade work, refined over years rather than assembled for a single season.

The Set

The Four Quiet Grounds is presented as a complete practitioner set, containing one of each space myst:

  • TALAMH – Earth

  • CLOCH – Stone

  • CNÁMH – Bone

  • SOLAS – Inner Light

Each bottle is finished with hand-applied structural paste in the Winter Earth Element 2025 colourway, creating a tactile, geological surface that anchors the vessel as an object of work rather than a disposable container.  The bottles are intentionally weighty and tactile, designed to be held, returned to, and kept.

Each myst is offered in a practitioner-sized measure, intended for long-term studio or temple space use. These formulations are highly concentrated – a few sprays are sufficient, and each bottle is designed to last through many months of regular use.

The Four Quiet Grounds

TALAMH – The Deep Ground

Botanical Space Myst – Earth

TALAMH is the myst of descent. Built from the deepest layer of the studio scent library, it draws the atmosphere downward – out of agitation and into steadiness. Earth-bound resins, root extractions, and vegetal materials create a grounded, soil-rich composition that anchors a room without heaviness. This is the scent of compressed leaves, damp earth, root fibre, and the quiet mineral warmth that emerges once a space has settled.

Intention

Grounding – anchoring – stabilising. TALAMH supports containment and steadiness, helping a space feel held from beneath.

Use

Mist lightly into still air, corners of rooms, or onto natural materials such as wood, stone, or fibre. One or two sprays are sufficient.

CLOCH – The Still Wall

Botanical Space Myst – Stone

CLOCH is a study in mineral restraint and spatial boundary. Dry resins, bark extractions, and cool stone-leaning accords establish clarity and definition within a room. This myst is particularly suited to spaces where many people pass through, or where emotional residue accumulates. It firms the atmosphere without closing it, creating structure without rigidity.

Intention
Boundary – clarity – spatial integrity. CLOCH supports protection and definition, allowing a space to hold itself.

Use
Mist at thresholds, doorways, or around the perimeter of a space. Especially effective when resetting a room between uses.

CNÁMH – The Ancestral Frame

Botanical Space Myst – Bone

KNOV is built around structure rather than surface. Pale woods, chalky mineral notes, and a restrained warmth drawn from long resin work create an atmosphere of quiet endurance.

This is not a scent of decay, but of what remains – the underlying architecture that supports depth, seriousness, and truth. It lends gravity to a space without weight.

Intention
Depth – dignity – endurance. CNÁMH supports reflection, emotional honesty, and sustained presence.

Use
Mist sparingly into still air and allow the myst to settle rather than circulate. Best suited to quiet work, evening spaces, and winter light.

SOLAS – The Banked Ember

Botanical Space Myst – Inner Light

SOLAS is composed as warmth without brightness – the glow that remains once the fire has burned low. Softened resins, gentle smoke, and traces of dried citrus peel create an atmosphere of reassurance and ease. This myst restores softness after intensity without undoing depth. It is the closing note of the set – integrative rather than activating.

Intention
Restoration – comfort – gentle reassurance. SOLAS supports easing, integration, and a calm return.

Use
Mist lightly into the centre of a room, near a hearth, lamp, or candle. Particularly suited to dusk, evening, and closing work.

Working With the Set

The Four Quiet Grounds may be used individually or sequentially:

  • TALAMH – to ground

  • CLOCH – to define

  • CNÁMH – to deepen

  • SOLAS – to restore

These botanical waters are not worn on the body. They are released into space, where they shape atmosphere, tone, and threshold. They are not room perfumes, linen sprays, or cosmetic fragrances.

Care and Use

As with all alcohol-based botanical waters, avoid direct contact with eyes and open flame. Use with care around delicate surfaces.

THE FRAMEWORK FOR THIS COLLECTION

Our Winter/Earth Element Collection arrives into the season of Samhain – that threshold between the last new moon of the dying Celtic year in October, astronomical Samhain, and the first new moon of the year to come in November. It is here that endings and beginnings lie folded together – a dreamtime of moons that leads us into the deepest dark – asking us to walk slowly, to walk in Earth time.

This is not the hurried clock-time of the everyday. It is slow time – deep time – recorded in bedrock and fault-line, in layers pressed through clay and shale. As the earth keeps her history in stone and strata, so we carry memory in bone. The land is our larger body – marrow and mountain, clay and skin, each carrying memory. To enter this season is to enter those depths, to map again the contour lines of the inner ground, to feel where the body holds fractures, pressure, weight-bearing, release. The work is slow. The work is old. Stone remembers, and so do we. Our bodies are cairns of remembrance.

Between Samhain and Solstice we are pilgrims moving through inner hollows and chambers of the soul. It is sanctuary time, a time of reverence and devotion, where prayer is not passive but visceral and embodied – where we kneel not before idols but within the tabernacle of our own being. The ember of light is entrusted to us here, and it must be guarded with care – fanned in trust, sheltered in hope, nourished with care, until it kindles to flame and warmth.

Samhain is also the season of surrender. To grieve what has passed in the twelve months gone. To honour ancestors, yes, but also to lay down the burdens of the year, the losses and thresholds crossed, the shocks and griefs that linger. As leaves return to soil, so sorrow returns to earth, darkening into humus that feeds what will come. In the body, this work is felt in the earth element – in the musculoskeletal frame, in the gut’s deep work of breaking down and letting go. To release is to create space, and to hold is to become heavy. The earth teaches us this balance, for she both receives and yields in the same breath.

This is the annual pilgrimage to the soul’s inner shrine – beyond one life, beyond one line of ancestry. It is the thread that connects us with stone and to soil, with grandmother and grandfather, with all who came before and all who will come after. In this time-out-of-time we reweave ourselves into that thread, into the north, into the slow, enduring rhythm of earth itself. And from that ground – from a living tapestry of blood and bone and surrender – the Solstice light is born again. A flame at the heart of winter.
