'Our knees give us the ability to literally move our bodies through time and space upon this earth. They connect the bones of each leg, the femur (thigh bone) on the upper leg, and the tibia and fibula, the main bones in the lower leg. In humans, the knees support nearly the entire weight of our bodies. They are complex hinge joints that flex and extend. As the knee flexes the leg goes back. As it extends, the leg moves forward. Thus, we can crawl, stand, walk, run, skip, jump, and dance. With bent knees we are able to touch the ground or kneel in humble prayer.
