This listing is the 'Drum of the Bee & The Flame', from The heART of Ritual.

A note here to say that the natural beauty and radiance of the drums that come through me are notoriously difficult to capture, the images and video do not do them justice however I have tried my best to represent them as best possible...always in natural light and unedited images.

Drum of the Bee & The Flame was birthed into being under the long gaze of the Summer Solstice sun—a time when the land is full of song, light reaches its height, and the fire in the belly of the year burns clear and strong.

Traditionally, fire has been kindled at this turning to honour life, to mark the high point of growth, and to offer up what must be burned away. In Ireland, midsummer flames were lit on hilltops to call in protection, to bless the land and the animals, and to mark the crossing into the second half of the year. This drum carries that same spirit—an offering to the fire that purifies, awakens, and renews. It is a truth SE-ER.

The handle is naturally shed reindeer antler, strong and curved by weather and time. It is dressed with three hand-cut pyrite rays that honour the sun’s path—dawn, midday, and dusk—a quiet nod to the turning sky. Twined around the antler and pyrite crystals is a sliver of golden snake skin, naturally shed, a sign of change and old skins let go. A citrine crystal nestles at the antlers base, holding a warmth that echoes the light of the Solstice sun.

The surface of the drum tells its own elemental story. Pigments ground from oak—tree of strength and the sacred tree of this festival—ignite in russet flame across the hide, shifting like embers, revealing unexpected images of moths, a great bee, and twin stingrays swimming through fire. Though creatures of the sea, the stingrays remind us that every element lives in relationship—fire within water, water within fire—and that courage is a quiet force beneath the surface, ready to rise.

Bee spirit runs deep through this piece. In Irish lore, bees are seen as carriers of truth, soul, and wisdom. They tend to the invisible threads that bind community and keep the land in balance. Their presence here is no accident.

Blue emerges too—unexpected, yet deeply significant. In many ancient cultures, blue was reserved for sacred ritual. Here, it evokes the feminine face of fire: the receptive, intuitive spark that births vision and insight. Lapis, azure, indigo—the shades worn by those who spoke for the gods, who carried messages across thresholds. In this drum, blue does not cool the flame but deepens it.

This is a drum that speaks of bees building towards abundance, of fire moving through the body as alchemy, of the sun cresting in its fullness. It invites those who hear it to rise into their sovereignty, to remember their part in the great web of life, and to walk forward with clarity, courage, and care.

A ceremonial companion for those called to honour the land, the turning of the year, and the wild kin who move between the worlds.

This drum holds a seasonal fire, but it is not loud or brash. It is the kind of heat that stirs the soil, that clears the undergrowth, that sharpens our seeing. It is for those who feel the call to tend the old rhythms—to mark time with intention, to honour the land and its turning, and to step across the fireline changed.

This ritual rhythm colleague is a very unique one of a kind Drum, and the one you see here is the one you will receive. A personal note here that the combination of orange tones and blue tones in this drum represent the 'high heart' state of BEing, therapeutic colours that together represent the whole. The blue is feminine, the orange, masculine.

The images you see here of this beautifully ethereal ritual colleague are all made in natural light and unedited. It seems to continue to bring through new images each day. I am not going to list what I see and feel in this here as I do not want to influence your own impressions and perspectives. Trust me when I say that this Drum colleague is absolutely extraordinary though, and has an incredible balance between cosmos/above/masculine (macrocosm) and inner realms/below/feminine (microcosm).

This Drum colleague is approx 18 inches in diameter. It comes with my standard Drum Sounder and a care sheet. There are a number of accompanying artifacts that come with this Drum, however I am not listing those details here as it is information that this Drums human will receive personally for the altar space they set up for this Drum Spirit.

THE FRAMEWORK FOR THIS COLLECTION

Our Winter/Earth Element Collection arrives into the season of Samhain – that threshold between the last new moon of the dying Celtic year in October, astronomical Samhain, and the first new moon of the year to come in November. It is here that endings and beginnings lie folded together – a dreamtime of moons that leads us into the deepest dark – asking us to walk slowly, to walk in Earth time.

This is not the hurried clock-time of the everyday. It is slow time – deep time – recorded in bedrock and fault-line, in layers pressed through clay and shale. As the earth keeps her history in stone and strata, so we carry memory in bone. The land is our larger body – marrow and mountain, clay and skin, each carrying memory. To enter this season is to enter those depths, to map again the contour lines of the inner ground, to feel where the body holds fractures, pressure, weight-bearing, release. The work is slow. The work is old. Stone remembers, and so do we. Our bodies are cairns of remembrance.

Between Samhain and Solstice we are pilgrims moving through inner hollows and chambers of the soul. It is sanctuary time, a time of reverence and devotion, where prayer is not passive but visceral and embodied – where we kneel not before idols but within the tabernacle of our own being. The ember of light is entrusted to us here, and it must be guarded with care – fanned in trust, sheltered in hope, nourished with care, until it kindles to flame and warmth.

Samhain is also the season of surrender. To grieve what has passed in the twelve months gone. To honour ancestors, yes, but also to lay down the burdens of the year, the losses and thresholds crossed, the shocks and griefs that linger. As leaves return to soil, so sorrow returns to earth, darkening into humus that feeds what will come. In the body, this work is felt in the earth element – in the musculoskeletal frame, in the gut’s deep work of breaking down and letting go. To release is to create space, and to hold is to become heavy. The earth teaches us this balance, for she both receives and yields in the same breath.

This is the annual pilgrimage to the soul’s inner shrine – beyond one life, beyond one line of ancestry. It is the thread that connects us with stone and to soil, with grandmother and grandfather, with all who came before and all who will come after. In this time-out-of-time we reweave ourselves into that thread, into the north, into the slow, enduring rhythm of earth itself. And from that ground – from a living tapestry of blood and bone and surrender – the Solstice light is born again. A flame at the heart of winter.
