This listing is for one of the below SKINFOOD offerings from The heART of Ritual.
• SWEET WOODRUFF HAND & NAIL CONDITIONER
• Suitable for all skin types
This is what I affectionately call my 'green fingers' hand and nail conditioner ~ an offering for loving hands that work hard seeding, setting, caring for, gathering and co~creating with wild medicinal plants year round. This is a nourishing and protective treatment for gardening and foraging hands that get scratched, scraped, chapped, splintered, cut, bruised, split and weak nails and all the usual malarkey that happens when your hands are earthwards and your back skyward all year!
I always craft this during winter so as to give my hands the replenishment they need before the growing year begins again. Normally come March, I'd be out turning over beds in the veggie garden and getting ready for the busiest four to six weeks of the year ~ gathering the spring medicines out in the mountains. My hands get hammered, literally, so this is a lifesaver.
This is the first year I've added a new ingredient. It's more for fragrance purposes than medicinal (and I'm more accustomed to working with its flavor profile with my culinary adventures), but my oh my, it works exactly as I had hoped. I also adore the lore associated with beautiful herb and the customs they still have with it here in the Alps. It's sweet woodruff.
Between this and the sweetgrass (one of the other ingredients), this smells heavenly. I'm not much of a vanilla fan in general but this really works! I love too that both ingredients relate with the air element, spring, the sense of smell (carried by air), the direction of east, planetary relation with Mercury (ruler of the east), etc, as the spring is the season in which our hands are called to action again after the winters rest. Each one is also adorned with a dried pressed daisy, which not alone is one of the first flowers we see here after the snow season, but medicinally is a wonderful native first aid plant that we use in place of arnica in Ireland. Energetically one of the signatures of daisy is the virgin aspect, innocence, which too relates with the energy of spring. It's in the details, always. All in all, the perfect pot of sensory goodness for those who love and live with the land, as one.
This is plant and crystal alchemy, and the magic of slow medicine making. I love to share little insights so that those who receive these get to be as enchanted by this process as I am.
Below you will find a link to a short video where you can see an intimate part of this final stage in the medicine making process, one that is normally only witnessed by my eyes. I've always found this ephemeral moment to be incredibly beautiful. It's as if this bewitching dance of the fine crystal powders and plant ingredients form a scrying tool to view other worlds. I stay with it for as long as it remains. As soon as I saw this on the first pour I knew I wanted to share this somehow. So here's hoping my wobbly footage will suffice. A little glimpse into what for me is like discovering the most magical fern lined light beam filled clearing deep in the woods. It makes me stop, and sigh deeply.
