This listing is for one Seaweed, Selenite & Labradorite Selkie Ritual Bathing Bar from The heART of Ritual.

'I must be a mermaid, Rango. I have no fear of depths and a great fear of shallow living.' - Anaïs Nin

This is an offering for those who, after years of struggle and trying to keep their head above the surface, have surrendered, exhausted - and discovered that can not alone breath underwater, but thrive in the depths. Hence the Labradorite crystals embedded in this ritual bathing bar, ritually representing a scrying tool and portal place for those consciously looking to reflect, contemplate and access the depths (within).

This delicate crystal soap is wonderfully gentle on the skin, but energetically packs a punch. It's as fresh as the ocean breeze, and I've added hand gathered Irish kelp, bladderwrack and egg wrack, sea salt, green healing clay (that I hand gathered in France), and finely ground Selenite powder.

Fine crystal powder of Selenite is added to this cold processed soap, as well as dusted over the top. I gathered this Selenite along the coastline when I was in Spain and have included this into the blend as Selenite is a lunar crystal and we are currently in the lunar half of the year. I also like to view Selenite as a lunar torch, that shines a (full moon) light for us in the dark. Dried hand gathered seaweeds and seashells adorn the crown of this soap.

The Labradorite was hand gathered in Finland some years ago, each is hand carved into a freehand oval shape with a natural surface facing out, and the rear is smooth (or at least as flat and smooth as I could get it with my hand tools). These are really beautiful crystals with alot of colours in them, ranging from electric blue to gold and magenta, and once this ritual bathing bar is finished, you might like to create something meaningful from these Labradorite portals (hence the reason I did my best to get a smooth surface on the back of them, makes them easier for jewellry making and mounting!). Each shape is unique, and in order for me to embed them into the soap, the exact shape of each was drawn onto the surface of the soap and the space carved out so that each crystal fits snugly inside.

Note that these are very large bars of soap, so they go a long way! ;-)

When I consider the legends of these shapeshifting Selkies and mermaids, I felt it would be a moving experience to bathe and consciously invoke our mythic reclaim out pelts or regrow our tails so to speak ~ to embody the shapeshifting qualities and fluidity of water! I began to ponder upon ways that I could somehow integrate this into the ritual bathing experience, clearly without using actual pelts or fish scales! I liked the idea of being in the bath, invoking the mythical creature within myself, and when I would step out of the bath, that shimmering scales would be on my skin. Immediately I thought of muscovite (mica). The colour range that this mineral has is perfect, it grows in delicate sheets (and easily flakes), it doesn't disintegrate in water, and it is non toxic, so this made it an ideal substitute to explore. I had found some here in the Alps a few years ago, so I ground ground up by hand, and it was perfect! I sprinkled a little of it into my bath water and immersed myself for my soak. When I stepped out of the bath, the muscovite flakes on my skin really did bring the invocation to a whole other level, it was quite magical! During the day, I spotted one on my hand and was reminded of the ritual. Because this was such a beautiful and enchanting experience, I am sharing it, and as such, I am including the gift of these hand gathered pearlescent muscovite flakes with each of these ritual bathing bars - so that we can reclaim our inner mythic creatures and regrow our tails together!
