This is a lunar soap made with *the* lunar herb, for ritual bathing during water season.
I've been working towards being able to make this particular offering for years, as it has taken that long to gather and grow the seed from these wild native species of Artemisia. Mugwort is one of my main plant mentors, this offering has been a long time coming and so this is an ode to her.
This ritual bathing bar is made with 13 species of Artemisia that now grows here in the garden I lovingly tend to, and as a ritual bathing experience, this has exceeded all dreams and expectations I might have ever had. Created especially for fellow Artemisia initiates, by someone that is an Artemisia lover and nerd.
Fine crystal powder of Selenite is added to this cold processed soap, as well as dusted over the top. I gathered this Selenite along the coastline when I was in Spain and have included this into the blend as Selenite is a lunar crystal and we are currently in the lunar half of the year. I also like to view Selenite as a lunar torch that shines a (full moon) light for us in the dark. Dried Artemisia adorns the crown of each bar.
The Labradorite was hand gathered in Finland some years ago, each is hand carved freehand with a natural surface facing out, and the rear is smooth (or at least as flat and smooth as I could get it with my hand tools). These are really beautiful crystals with a lot of colours in them, ranging from electric blue to gold and magenta, and once this ritual bathing bar is finished, you might like to create something meaningful from these Labradorite portals (hence the reason I did my best to get a smooth surface on the back of them, makes them easier for jewellery making and mounting!). Each shape is unique, and in order for me to embed them into the soap, the exact shape of each was drawn onto the surface of the soap and the space carved out so that each crystal fits snugly inside.
Note that these are very large bars of soap, so they go a long way! ;-)
